2026 Nominations & Elections
Board Leadership
Our Board comprises six Executive Members and three Members-at-Large. You can learn more about the current Board here. Board members are elected for three-year terms, and the specific role an individual assumes depends on their interests and the positions available at the time of appointment. Please see also our bylaws for additional information.
Nominations
24 August – 13 September 2026
This year, two positions are available:
- President-Elect
- One Member-at-Large
To be eligible for election, candidates must be Full Members in good standing with no outstanding membership fees.
All SMRA members (Full and Trainee Members) are encouraged to participate in the nominations process. Any member may nominate an eligible candidate or self-nominate.
A short biography (approximately half a page) must accompany each nomination. The short biography must be written by the nominee. Where a member nominates someone else, the proposer may submit the short biography on the nominee’s behalf, provided the nominee has given informal consent to the nomination and to the content of the biography.
Please submit the nomination here:
Candidate Selection
Following the close of nominations, the Board will review all submissions and confirm candidate eligibility. From the eligible pool, up to three candidates will be shortlisted to stand in the election.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit an extended biography (up to one page) by 21 September . This biography must be submitted directly by the candidate; submission constitutes the candidate’s active confirmation of their willingness to stand for election. These biographies will be published in the members-only area of the SMRA website before voting opens. The extended biography should include:
- Key professional positions and achievements
- Previous involvement with SMRA
- A statement outlining the candidate’s motivation and goals for serving on the Board
Further details regarding the required documentation and submission process will be provided directly to shortlisted candidates.
