MRA membership is designed to be accessible to professionals at every career stage and from around the world. Reduced membership rates are available for trainees and members residing in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Members are asked to self-report their career stage and country of residence during registration to ensure a simple and efficient enrollment process*.

Important notes*:

• Confirmation of trainee status: Trainee members are required to provide the contact information of their supervisor during the membership registration process. SMRA reserves the right to contact the listed supervisor to verify trainee status or eligibility, if necessary.
• LMICs: A 50% membership fee discount is available to members residing in countries classified as LMICs. Country of residency is being recorded through the membership registration platform and discount would be automatically applied at checkout.
• Reduced conference registration fees: Following registration and confirmation of active SMRA membership status, the reduced registration fee for the upcoming annual SMRA Meeting may be applied using a discount code that will be sent by email.

To help maintain a welcoming, professional, and inclusive Society, all members are asked to adhere to the following membership policies.

Membership Eligibility

SMRA offers two membership categories:

Full Member – Individuals who have completed their formal training and are actively engaged in clinical practice, research, education, engineering, healthcare, or industry.
Trainee Member – Individuals currently enrolled in a graduate degree program, residency, fellowship, or postdoctoral training program.

Membership is granted upon successful registration, payment of annual dues, and fulfillment of the applicable eligibility requirements.

Member Responsibilities

SMRA members are expected to:

• Support the mission and values of the Society.
• Comply with the SMRA Bylaws and Code of Conduct.
• Provide accurate and up-to-date information during registration and renewal.
• Maintain active membership by renewing annual dues.

Member Rights

Members in good standing enjoy a range of professional and educational benefits, including opportunities to:

• Access member-exclusive resources and educational content.
• Participate in Society programs, committees, working groups, and task forces.
• Receive discounted registration for eligible SMRA events.
• Participate in the SMRA Mentorship Program.
• Vote in Society elections and hold elected or appointed leadership positions, in accordance with the SMRA Bylaws.

Membership Renewal

SMRA membership is maintained through the payment of annual membership dues. Members in good standing remain eligible for all Society benefits, programs, and member-exclusive opportunities.

Members may use this discount at any conference that begins within their 12‑month membership period. If the next conference begins more than 12 months after the membership dues are paid, the membership is automatically extended to the last day of that conference so the member can use their one discount for that membership year.

In all other cases, benefits and discounted event registration rates are only applicable for the 12-month membership period and cannot be rolled over to the upcoming periods without membership renewal.

Cancellation & Termination

Membership is personal and may not be transferred or assigned to another individual.

Membership may end if annual dues are not paid. In exceptional circumstances, the SMRA Board of Directors may suspend or terminate membership for cause, following the procedures outlined in the Society’s Bylaws. Members may also resign from the Society at any time by providing written notice.
