Airport Options when travelling to Sendai:
The SMRA 2023 organizing committee recommends flying into Tokyo (Haneda Airport) and securing a train into Sendai. See below for some tips if travelling into the Haneda airport:
Trains: Considering factors such as flight delays and other unforeseen delays, train tickets to Sendai should be booked onsite. To get to from Haneda Airport to Tokyo station you can utilize a limousine, bus or 2 railway routes.
Once you’ve arrived at the Tokyo Station, the express train, Hayabusa, takes 90 minutes to travel from Tokyo to Sendai. It is sometimes fully booked.
A second option is Yamabiko, which will travel from Tokyo to Sendai in 120 minutes.
Our recommended travel route:
First, buy tickets to Sendai Station at Haneda airport JR ticket service center.
Take Tokyo Monorail to Hamamatsu cho.
Transfer to JR local line (Yamanote line or Keihin-Tohoku line) from Hamamatsu cho to Tokyo.
Transfer to JR Tohoku Shinkansen Express train.

Japan Rail (JR) train pass:
The JR is the major train system in Japan. You may find there are 1-, 2-, and 3-week passes. There are also two kinds of train seats, ordinal and green.
Both ordinal and green class passengers can preassign their reserve seats, and green class is like business class. There is another Gran class like first class, but there is no JR pass available.

Guest Program:
We are proud to be able to offer a guest/spousal program to further enhance our conference experience. The Guest Program is intended for anyone who may be travelling with conference attendees that wishes to explore Sendai with a group while delegates enjoy the conference proceedings.
Historically, the spousal program has been a highly enjoyable and bonding experience for those that have attended. We look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. The early bird cost for the Spousal Program is 50.00 (75.00 after July 15th) thanks to the generous support of Sendai City Tourism and other organizations.
